TECHNOLOGY

The last stop on PBX evolution; Soft PBX
We have been encountering with incredible developments since 90’s when the first applications of VoIP technology were experienced.

The applications performed through modules located both on the cards mounted to the computer and routers were not very efficient since the technology was new and the connections provided limited opportunities. However, today there is no one left among the internet users who have not at least once made voice call over internet. Moreover, most of us intensively use internet technologies both on our business lives and private lives.

The institutionalized implementations of VoIP have started with converters called gateway, however, today the VoIP technology is included in many switchboard structures. This technology is being implemented on the classical switchboards called “Legacy PBX” and also the implementations on the “SoftPBX”, that appeared due to the revolution of the switchboard implementations for the purpose of supporting the new technologies, are widespread.

Then, what is SoftPBX? In plain language, SoftPBX is a term used for the PBX platforms that implement the functions (call answering, transfer etc.) being electronically or mechanically implemented by the classical switchboards without using the electronic circuits specially designed for this job but via a system entirely based on software.

Since the switchboard functions are fulfilled through software, many new technologies can be easily adapted. Furthermore, they can be integrated with various platforms such as accounting software used for daily works, CRM or ERP applications. Moreover, the processes and process optimization that are on the agenda of several companies during the last years have lead the way for switchboards working on their own to develop into being parts of the process and enabling automation via SoftPBX platforms.

It is also possible find applications such as Call Center or IVR (Interactive Voice Response) on these platforms that previously could only be found on major and high-cost systems. Thanks to these applications, it is possible to create call centers having small capacities for organizing your relationships with the customers and to receive reports regarding the performance of the call center. Besides, by equipping some of the routine works in manner so that they can be performed independent from human beings thanks to the IVR applications, you can have advantages such as using your own resources in a productive way and quickly responding to your customers.

As well as providing several advantages with respect to the productivity and automation, SoftPBXs provide significant cost advantages on price-characteristic comparison against Classic PBXs. Many functions implemented on SoftPBXs (Robot operator, Call Recording, Reporting etc.) can be acquired with a lower cost. Nevermore, your resource need for system management is minimized thanks to the management ease.

What is LCR (Least Cost Routing)?
LCR is a mechanism enabling to perform the conferences to be made on the new generation systems with the minimum cost. Accordingly, the system arranges the duly orientation of conferences commenced under certain rules and therefore enables the control of the conference costs.

Below given is an example of LCR orientation. Thanks to the settings made on this system, the calls commenced from the main office shall be directly sent to the Cwiz on the other side if the dialed number is “1234” and the call shall be made with the minimum cost.

Likewise, if the dialed number is “05XX1234545”, it shall be sent over “GSM Operator 1” and if it is “05YY1234545” then it shall be sent over the other GSM Operator, therefore using the way having the most reasonable cost shall be secured. By the same token, it will be possible to direct the local calls, long distance calls and continental calls over the operator having the most reasonable cost.
Since it is a method open for performing best fit settings pro rata with the changing communication systems, continuity of the low-cost calls can be obtained via making the necessary arrangements for newly appeared operators.
